This video had me lost for words whenever I first saw it. The main character, Nick Vujicic, is a normal everyday man that lives life like everyone else. The only difference is he has no limbs. The video shows a lifestyle of a man that helps give others inspiration from watching the video. This man lives life to the fullest and is happy with the exception that he has no limbs. He is not impaired in thinking that he is incapable of doing things such as brushing his hair, shaving, and brushing his teeth. In the video, he shows how he applies every little thing in his household to good use such as using the putter to turn on the lights and also using a rope to open his door. This man shows to the world how that being disabled is not always a bad thing.
Nick Vujicic was born in Melbourne, Australia on December 4, 1982. He was the first-born in his family and had the rare case of Tetra-amelia. Tetrat-amelia is a disorder where a person is born without the four limbs (two arms and two legs). Nick is missing both arms at shoulder level and legs and only has a small foot with two toes that protrudes from his left thigh. However, with this disorder he was still in good health. In his early childhood, Nick was bullied highly in school because of his handicap. He started to grow very depressed about the whole situation. By the age of eight, he had the first thoughts of considering suicide. The reason he started to drift from the ideas of suicide was the fact that he started to realize how many people he had been inspiring. He went from pleading God to give him arms and legs to thanking Him for letting him be alive in the world. In his epiphany, he explains that one of the key turning points in his life was when his mother gave him a newspaper article of a man that was dealing with a serious disability. The reason this was a big turning point for Nick was that he finally realized that he was not the only person in the world struggling from a severe disability. With his disability, he did not consider himself as a handicap person, but a gifted boy that had the gift of giving inspiration to others.
His journey of giving inspiration started off at the age of seventeen at his prayer groups he attended. Using prayer groups as building blocks, he soon then started a non-profit association called Life Without Limbs. This organization was found in 2005 and was used to give people living without limbs inspiration and motivation to keep living their lives. This organization does this by having speeches given to countries worldwide about the Christian faith and also to let the people know the strength of faith in God. This inspirational speeches give people the faith and motivation to live life and lets the people know that there is someone out there that does care for their life and also that they were put on this earth for a reason and purpose. In these speeches Nick talks about topics such as rejection, fear, depression, and suffering. He also even goes into detail about unanswered prayers. The topics that are derived for these speeches are from his past experiences and what drove him to negative thoughts about life and importantly in himself. This speeches are taken place around the world at Christian and even non-Christian places that includes churches, schools, parks, many other places.
Before the organization of Life Without Limbs took place, he attended school. He was at first not able to attend a public school because of his disability even though his disability was not mental. The laws of Australia were soon changed and Nick achieved the award of being one of the first disabled students to transfer and attend a public school in Australia. After high school, Nick attended college and graduated with a double major in Accounting and Financial Planning at the age of 21. His career first started as he began to travel as a motivational speaker for teenagers, focusing on the points that many teenagers to this day face on a daily basis. His goal was to become an international inspiration speaker around the world in both a Christian and non-Christian setting.
Nick Vujicic is now known as one the most inspirational person in the US. He has already spoken to over two million in twelve different countries. These worldwide countries are on the continents of Africa, Asia, Australia, and North America. His goals right now is that by the age of 25 he can become financially independent. He wants to also further his inspirations by more than just giving inspirational speeches. He would also like to air on different various television shows and also write books to spread his word and inspiration to all the people in the world. He also plans that by the end of 2009, his first book called No Arms, No Legs, No Worries! will be completed. A website has also been made by him where he has a motivational DVD available called Life’s Greater Purpose. Nick Vujicic was born a child with no limbs and in other people’s eyes as a child with no hope. Nick has proved them wrong by living life as a regular man and by doing normal things as swimming without any hindrance. He has also inspired many people and motivated so many where he in most eyes now would look like a hero.

You come into this world without any clothes being nursed by your mother. Eventually you learn how to walk and you also learn your first word. Then you go from using the bathroom on your own and going to kindergarten. Kindergarten becomes into Middle school and then to High school and eventually college. You land your first big job and start a new family. The kids then go on through the same cycle as you become a grandparent and the cycle starts all over again. This process may seem like a slow working progress but in reality this life goes by so fast. Life flies by at a speed of light. When we were younger we always wished to get older. We can’t wait to get old enough to watch PG-13 movies and then it goes on from there to driving around in our own car. After those objectives we can’t wait to start partying and go to college. I am only eighteen at this moment and don’t really know how it feels to be out of college and in the real world. However, from hearing my mom and other adults around my life, they say that they wish life would start slowing down and sometimes even wish they were in my shoes. My personal opinion, part of me still wishes to be in High school but ultimately I am glad to be in college because I believe I have reached another obstacle in my life. This picture struck my interest the most because it shows descriptively how fast the train is moving past the person. I believe the train is symbolizing life and how fast it goes by. The subway train moves so fast the person not even giving any attention to it. This man I believe is symbolizing each and every one of us. We are so oblivious to how fast life goes by. At the age of thirteen or so, the thoughts of where to go to college and what kind of job to get never crosses through the mind. The older a person gets these thoughts about the future start bombarding the mind and the time line of choosing what college and job gets thinner and thinner. Once college life hits interferences such as partying and going out get in the way of studying for that dream job and makes the time line even thinner and harder to get. Also the baggage the man is holding I believe can symbolize the burdens and lessons that each and every person learns through life. These lessons are learned at the start of day one of our lives. These lessons accumulate over time and learning from mistakes will be applied to a person to become better and smarter. The clothes worn by the man can also be symbolized as warmth received from the loving people in their life such as their parents and friends. The cold weather that can be understood from the layer of clothes can also symbolize the harshness and bitterness of the real world. The clothes bought or given to the man has helped protect the man from the bitter cold and keeps him warm as ones friends and family can motivate and help them keep going when obstacles and times of giving up on life occur. Bottom line is that everyone should live life to the fullest. Life is a precious gift that has been given upon each and every person and needs to be fully lived and used to the utmost extent.
